The Reality shows in India are increasing year by year as the people are getting familiar to the concept. The peoples want more reality show and TV channels also producing more shows because it connects with them. Moreover, these shows are for a short duration. Here, are the top best and famous reality show sin India.
- Kaun Banega Crorepati
The KBC is the first reality show of India. It is very popular reality show of India. It is known for two things-this show giving chance to common peoples to show their knowledge to the world and the show is hosted by great Mr. Amithab Bachan. For the first time, a Bollywood star was hosting a show on small screen. Amitabh Bachchan started the trend of Bollywood stars hosting the show. Amitabh Bachchan is now hosting the eighth edition of Kaun Banega Crorepati.
- Bigg Boss
This show is the most controversial show on Indian television. The format of the show is simple yet challenging. A bunch of celebrities closed in a house without the comfort of watching TV, friends, family, not even a watch. But they are watched round the clock with cameras all around the house. This could give you chance to favourite celebrities better.
Some of the contestants like Vindu, Sameer Soni, and Raageshwari have revived their sinking careers by participating in the show. Most importantly the show is popular as it is hosted by the superstar Salman Khan. Salman makes the show more interesting with his witty sense of humour and communicating with the contestants with his ‘dabang’ style.
- MTV Roadies – MTV
The longest running reality show is at the third place on my list. Completed 11 seasons and season 12 is on its way. This is one that I personally don’t get bored of; best episodes are of the auditions. Raghu, Rajeev, and Rannvijay just tear the contest apart.
There are no fixed standards as to the selection of the contestant, they are selected on the basis of their “realness”. I’m no employee of MTV and would like to point out that the judges there want the real you.
The contestants need to prove his ability by performing tasks. The witty and famous Raghu and Rajeev are the biggest threat of the participants.
- Jhalak Dikhla Jaa
At the core it is a dance show where celebrities from various fields are invited to take part. Each celebrity is paired with a choreographer and the winner is decided according to the public votes and the judge’s scores.
The show has completed six seasons and the seven season is on air now. Madhuri Dixit Nene, Remo, and Karan Johar jointly judged it. Popular face of small screen Manish Paul hosts the show. The dance numbers at Jhalak Dikhla Jaa is at international level.
5. Dance India Dance
The most famous dance reality show in India. The show so far has done three seasons and the judges out there on the panel are the best in the Industry that the dancers can ask. Judges thoroughly observe and filter out the best from the rest. A selected few are then trained by one of the three judges Terence, Geeta, or Remo.
The absolute dance dhamaka has Mithunda at its helm but the final voting process is left out for the public to decide. Apart from having versions where solo dancers are selected, the show has successfully completed a version for children and one for doubles.
6. Sa Re Ga Ma Pa – Zee TV
Started as a singing competition is now changed and the format is completely changed and the winner is picked by public voting. Formerly the show’s judges used to take the final decision and decide upon the winner.
One of the oldest show in India was transformed in 2005 and till now had many seasons for seniors including Sa Re Ga Ma Lil Champs.
Although the show being the first singing competition shows on TV, it was a bit late to catch on the popular feeling of realty shows. Nevertheless, it has brought forward some good singers which are the prime objective of the show. Singers such as Raja Hasan and Vaishali Mhade have got opportunities to sing in mainstream Bollywood movies courtesy Sa Re Ga Ma Pa.
7. Comedy Circus
The comedy reality show which was first started in 2007 has gone through many different seasons and various smaller mini-seasons. The show started with a bang and found tremendous support from the viewers. Apparently some future seasons were not that great. Some recent shows of comedy circus are like watching the same old jokes without any new innovation in writing or the performance.
The show has brought forward many excellent Indian as well as Pakistani comedy talents. Actors such as Krishna, Paresh and comedian such as Krushna and Kapil have got a certain TV star status because of their performance.Still the show is grossing good number of viewers, may be because of the laugh out loud nature of Archana Puran Singh.
8. India’s Got Talent
The show is an adaption from foreign show Got Talent. The show has been adapted in more than 35 countries. And the Indian version has seen five seasons from 2009 till 2014.
The concept of the show is different from other shows and it does not concentrate on one aspect; the show has seen some brilliant solo dancers, group dancers, singers, stuntmen, and even painters and sand artist.
The diversity of the show can also be gauged by its winners, the first season had a dance group named “The Prince Group”, the second one had a choir group “Shillong Chamber Choir “, the third went again to a dance group “Suresh and Vernon Group”, the fourth one went to two young dancers Sonali Majumdar and Maraju Sumanth and fifth one went to kathak dance group, Ragini Makkhar and her Naadyog Academy.
