Alia Bhatt to be Chatan Bhagat’s ‘Half Girlfriend’?
After her charming avatar in 2 states, the rumors are getting ink for Alia Bhatt again with Chetan Bhagat. It is suggested that she might play the lead role in another adaption of Chetan Bhagat books, ‘Half Girlfriend’ which is to be launched on October 1 in Mumbai and Delhi. The author has joined hands with Mohit Suri and Ekta Kapoor who will be on board as co-producers. The book Half Girlfriend will have a Delhi girl character, Riya, who is the protagonist and buzz is that actress Alia Bhatt is most likely to be fixed for the role in the film adaptation.
One leading daily quoted a source saying, "It's a role tailor-made for Alia and both Mohit and Chetan believe that Alia who had earlier played Ananya Swaminathan in 2 States based on another Chetan bestseller, will do complete justice to Riya. Alia herself is keen to work with Mohit who is her cousin." However, the report also quoted the director Mohit Suri saying, "Alia is an amazing actress. I am currently developing the script and have not reached the casting stage. All I can say at the moment is that she would be great for the part."
Right now Alia Bhatt is quite tightly scheduled with her upcoming movie ‘Shandaar’ starring opposite to Shahid Kapoor. The movie is directed by Vikas Bhal, Shandaar's main plot is about an Indian family that lands up in an exotic foreign location (UK) for a wedding. Alia Bhatt and Shahid Kapoor play the role of two youngsters who bonds over their common problem of being insomniacs who falls in love with each other gradually.
