Television show Fanaah, which hit the television screens about two months ago, will soon go off air. Featuring Karan Kundra, Anita Hassanandani and Ratan Rajput, it is inspired by the international series, The Vampire Diaries.
And for once, poor ratings are not to be blamed. Unavailability of actors has prompted the makers to end the show. The show will wrap up in a week, because two of the lead actors are unwell. While Ratan is resting after being diagnosed with dengue, Karan has broken his ribs while performing a stunt. It’s difficult to shoot under such circumstances. So, they have decided to end it for now and return with Season Two.
Vikas Gupta, programming head of the channel, confirms, “Season One is ending one month before the decided date. While the first season was set in the 1980s, the second one will be set in 2014, which will return soon. We may not repeat the entire cast.”
Few days back, Anita Hassnandani, who plays Preet in Fanaah, had a fall while shooting for an action sequence recently.
Says Anita, “I was shooting a funeral sequence, and I was wearing a heavy Benarasi sari. There was wind and rain, and I also had to perform some stunts. I slipped and fell into the lake. Since I was wearing a sari, it was quite messy. I sprained my leg, but I’m okay now.”
Anita is quite kicked about playing a witch in the series. “It’s one of the most powerful characters I’ve ever gotten to enact. Preet is quite fashionable, and she is a crazy character,” she says. So, does Anita believe in the paranormal? “Honestly, no. But, Vikram Bhatt used to tell me several spooky stories while we worked on Andhera. I prefer not to believe in the paranormal; especially since I shoot at nights,” she laughs.
