Humsafar will soon hit your television screens on Zindagi channel. The show marks the comeback of popular Pakistani actor Fawad Khan on the channel after his hit show Zindagi Gulzar Hai. Humsafar will also mark the debut of Pakistani sensation Mahira Khan who is a popular VJ, actor and model. Also debuting on Indian Television with this show is Naveen Waqar, famous VJ, actor, model and RJ.

Award winning and critically-acclaimed show Humsafar is a story about love after arranged marriage, the trials and tribulations a couple goes through and how they overcome the same with the love that they share between each other. Mahira will be seen essaying the role of Khirad — daughter of a school teacher who is brought up in a humble background. It was through this role that Mahira became immensely popular.

Writer Farhat Ishtiaq says, “The response to Humsafar was unexpected. It was a hit novel and when made into a TV series, I expected it to do well but not to the extent that it did. Usually when a novel is adapted into a TV series or film, the readers are never satisfied with how it turns out, but in this case, the cast was perfect and I did not get any negative feedback at all.”

Farhat informs us that she has watched some hit Indian dramas as well, but feels that Pakistani shows are closer to reality and connect with the audience better. She says, “Indian shows are more glamourised, while our shows depict reality. Our content is stronger and the outfits and locations are less glamorous. The story is the focus in Pak dramas.”

Speaking about Indian films and actors, she says, “I like Shah Rukh Khan’s work. Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge and Jab We Met are brilliant.”

Pakistani actor-singer Fawad Khan is set to make his Bollywood debut with “Khoobsurat” and says his hands are full right now because viewers liked his TV show “Humsafar”.

He undoubtedly enjoys a huge fan following in his homeland. In India, thanks to channel Zindagi, which airs Pakistani TV shows here, he has also built a strong fan base here.

“‘Humsafar’ is the reason why I got a lot of work. People liked it and I hope here also the audience will like the show,” the 32-year-old said here Tuesday on the sets of reality show “India’s Best Cinestars Ki Khoj”.

The small screen experience gave him recognition. However, Fawad wants to now focus on his film career.

“Right now I want to continue in cinema, it is a learning experience for me. But if I have to, then I would go back to TV some day. But for now, I want to do cinema,” said the “Zindagi Gulzar Hai” star.
