Ranbir Kapoor has agreed to play Sanjay Dutt on the silver screen

Black Velvet actor Ranbir Kapoor, after a brief spell of uncertainty and speculation has finally agreed to star in Munnabhai MBBS director Rajkumar Hirani’s biopic of Sanjay Dutt. Ranbir Kapoor will be playing Sanjay Dutt.

Ranbir was always keen on playing the role of the imprisoned actor, but he had until now not given the official thumbs-up to the role. Neither was Raj Kumar Hirani putting too much pressure on the actor, as he had present project PK to worry about until now.

Addressing the media, the Bollywood star said, “Portraying Sanju sir on screen is a big task. And it comes with a huge responsibility. He’s had a very entertaining, engaging, and a roller-coaster kind of a life. I think Raju sir himself hasn’t decided if he wants to do it or not.”

But sources in a tabloid have just confirmed that Ranbir Kapoor has told the director that he can begin work on the film keeping the Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani star in mind.

Making and acting in the as of yet untitled film, however is predictably going to be difficult for both Ranbir and Rajkumar Hirani. This is due to the dramatic and troubled life of Sanjay Dutt. Still, if the two can pull it off in three hours, things are bound to go well for the film. As one of the sources mentioned, Hirani is bound to be happy with the recent developments. Not only does he have an interesting story to do a film on, but a talented actor to do it with.

Currently, Sanjay Dutt is serving his jail term for his role in the 1993 Mumbai blast case. Consequently, we also hear that Hirani plans to withhold the release of the film until Sunjay Dutt has completed his jail term.
