Ben Affleck battles Shah Rukh at the box office
Gone Girl starring Ben Affleck will release on the same day as Happy New Year starring Shah Rukh Khan
The two movies featuring the superstar actors will release on a Diwali weekend, on 24th October—just a day after Diwali.
Gone Girl, directed by David Fincher is based on a bestseller with the same name written by Gillian Flynn.
The movie casts Affleck in the role of a writer caught in a media-frenzy over the mysterious disappearance of his wife. He is the top suspect according to the police. The movie, which has already been released in the United States, apart from Affleck stars Rosamund Pike as his wife along with other characters being played by the talents of Tyler Perry, Carrie Coon and Neil Patrick Harris. The action-thriller film discusses deception, appearances, the media and the effect of the economy on the institution of marriage.
On the other hand, Happy New Year, directed by Farah Khan will follow a group of six losers who take part in a dance competition to pull off one of the most challenging and exciting heists ever. Thanks to its impressive and high profile star cast, the film is on the top of every Bollywood movie lovers’ list this Diwali. A through and through entertainment affair, apart from Shah Rukh Khan, the movie will feature Abhishek Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Boman Irani, Vivaan Shah and Sonu Sood. The cast of Happy New Year entertained audiences in the US recently through their Slam! Tour.
