Abhishek Bachchan is a complete all rounder

Abhishek Bachchan is more than just a bollywood actor

abhishek bachchan From his debut as a producer on the sets of Paa to his current tryst with football, Abhishek Bachchan has shown that he is capable of much more than just acting. Dabbling in sports, production and television presentation; Abhishek has proven himself a perfect all-rounder.

Born to Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan; both Bollywood stars, it seemed only natural for Abhishek to eventually don the mantle and take up acting himself. He began his acting career in his mid-twenties with Refugee, a war drama by J. P. Dutta. Abhishek played the male lead opposite Kareena Kapoor, who was also making her debut. Receiving only a lukewarm response, Abhishek went on to act in a string of films which did not do well at the box office. However, he seems to have given a good performance individually because his acting in 2003’s Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon as well as 2004’s Yuva won him his first two Filmfare awards for Best Supporting Actor.

What seems to have really launched Jr. B is his role in the 2004 movie, Dhoom. Abhishek is seen playing a policeman out to catch the bad guys along with sidekick Uday Chopra. A year later, he played the male lead in 2005’s second highest-grossing Bollywood film Bunty Aur Babli opposite Rani Mukerji, which got him nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Actor.

Bachchan won his third consecutive Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in 2006’s Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. He also acted in 2006’s highest-grossing Bollywood filn Dhoom 2, where he retained his role as a police officer.

In 2007, Abhishek earned critical acclaim for his performance in Guru. Directed by Mani Ratnam, the film was based on Dhirubhai Ambani. The Bollywood star then acted in Raj Sarkar, Drona, Dostana and Delhi-6 before turning co- producer as well as lead actor in the movie Paa, for which he won a National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi.

After this, his career hit a low from 2010 to 2012 with five movies that flopped. He managed to somewhat redeem himself in 2012 in the movie Bol Bachchan, which was a major blockbuster at the box office.

Last year, he once again paired up with Uday Chopra in Dhoom 3 which became another top grossing Bollywood film.

This year, fans of Abhishek will get to see him as Nandu in Happy New Year. The movie by Farah Khan will consist of stars like Shahrukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Boman Irani, Vivaan Shah, Sonu Sood and Anupam Kher. The movie has been produced by Gauri Khan under the banner of Red Chillies Entertainment.

Rumored to release this December, he will act in romantic drama All Is Well opposite Asin which is set to release in December 2014. Also, directed by Sajid-Farhad and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, Abhishek will star in the comedy Housefull 3 along with Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh.

Nowerdays, the actor is making his presence felt in the world of sports. After buying the Pro Kabaddi League franchise team Jaipur Pink Panthers; he also became a co-owner of the Indian Super League football team Chennaiyin FC.

Coming from a family of actors, Abhishek clearly had a lot of pressure on him to perform in Bollywood. Though admittedly his career has seen many ups and downs, we still feel the star has lived up to his name, excelling in not only Bollywood, but also most notably in the world of sports. Clearly, just like there’s something about Amitabh Bachchan, there’s something about Abhishek. Why else would Aishwarya Rai, once called the worldd’s most beautiful woman have fallen in love with and agreed to marry him?

Next year, fans can look out for Jr. B in movies like Time Machine, Biscuit, Mere Apne and Dostana 2.
