The main stream actors Aamir Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Anupam Kher, Vivek Oberoi, Sushant Singh Rajput , Parineeti Chopra along with several other filmstars and music personalities made their valuable contribution to the fun raising charitry concert ‘Hum Hain… Umeed-e-Kashmir’ for th flood victims of Kashmir and Assam.
Initiated by the entertainment industry led by the Event and Entertainment Management Association (EEMA), the Film and Television Producers Guild and Zee Media the concert was hosted at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi on 18th October.
Pointing out the need for people’s contribution, they voiced their concern over the flood victims. , “It’s a very tragic event for many people and it will be a great thing if we all get united to help the flood-hit areas at this time. Every day when we read the news papers we see events which are dividing us so we should take this opportunity publicly to tell the world that we are one.” said Farhan Akhtar while speaking at the event.
Anupam Kher, the veteran actor who is a Kashmiri showed up wearing a traditional Kashmiri phiran and said that the dress was a symbol of the Hindus and Muslims of the state as they both wear the same clothing.
“As human beings and as Indians we need to do all that we can to help our countrymen in need. The plight of the people of Jammu & Kashmir has always been a matter of concern and the floods have only made it worse. All that we do simply won’t be enough to meet the various challenges facing the people; but every drop counts. Hence we call on everyone in our country and from the world community to come forward and provide their support.”said Amitabh Bachchan when heard about the initiative.
Aditi Rao Hydari, Neha Dhupia, Daler Mehandi, Shaan and Ravi Kishan were among the others who made their presence at the event to raise funds.
The campaign’s highpoint was the creation of simultaneous live events on ground across 7 cities including Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkatta and Jaipur with the main event at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi and.
On 2015, October 26 a total of 35 Zee channels will simultaneously cast this initiative.
