Adaa Khan who is known for her negative roles in small screen, is playing a positive and non-glamorous character — that of a maid in Sony Pal’s Piya Basanti Re.
She says, “You don’t get to play the protagonist so easily on TV.”
In the upcoming episode, Adaa and co-actor Alaan Kapoor will dance to retro music on the occasion of his parents’ 25th wedding anniversary.
“My character Pia choreographs the sequence and when Kabir’s (Alaan) friend, who is supposed to dance with him, does not turn up, she dances with him,” says Adaa adding, “The sequence is inspired by Dev Anand-Mumtaz look of the 70s, and Rishi Kapoor-Sridevi look of the 80s. In the end, we don the look of Kabir’s parents. It was fun dancing to those hit songs.” This episode, we hear, will also see a theft taking place in the house.
Says Adaa, who was appreciated for her negative role in the show Amrit Manthan, “I have got Bollywood offers in the past, but I don’t think I am ready for films yet. When I feel confident enough, I would love to do a film. I have never planned anything in life and take things as they come. After completing B.A. in Psychology, I never thought that I would become an actress. My family is a little conservative but once I did print ads and started modelling, things just happened. When I was doing Palampur Express, I had zero knowledge about acting and I have actually learnt on the job. For now, I am happy doing TV shows. The industry is witnessing some positive changes and the shows have become bolder.”
She adds, “Apart from daily soaps, I have also enjoyed doing episodics because they give you the opportunity to play a wide variety of characters. It is great fun for any actor.”
