Anupam Kher is more than just the funny father of Bollywood

Anupam Kher

Anupam Kher is the most versatile actor in Bollywood. He fills comedic and serious roles with equal vigor. Already having starred in several Bollywood films, he has also acted in other language movies, most significantly David O. Russell's Oscar winning Silver Linings Playbook last year. Throughout his career, he bagged several awards, in fact, he won the Filmfare Award for Best Performance in a Comic Role five times. What’s more, He was honoured by the Government of India with a Padma Shri.

From the role of a father in recent films like 'Ekkees Toppon Ki Salaami and Happy New Year to the role of a villain in Sonali Cable, Anupam Kher clearly loves acting. A bit of research also revealed

that he has been cast in the comedy Shaukeens, a remake of 1982 Shaukeen that will release November 7. Directed by Abhishek Sharma, Anupam Kher will act beside Akshay Kumar, Annu Kapoor, Lisa Haydon and Piyush Mishra. Moreover, the Bollywood star will act in a black comedy with Annu Kapoor and Ali Fazal called Baa Baa Black Sheep which will be directed by Vishwaas Paandya slated to release this December.

According to a recent interview between Kher and the Times of India; the veteran actor explained why he did not want to follow in his wife, Kiran Kher’s footsteps and enter politics. Though he supported PM Modi and seems happy with his wife’s new career in the BJP, the veteran actor said that right now, he just wanted to act and give his 100% to the profession of acting.

From being the benevolent and honest Joshi in 'Ekkees Toppon Ki Salaami to the face of an evil capitalist in Sonali Cable, Anupam Kher has got the talent to evoke sympathy as well as disgust in Indian audiences. Let’s not forget how he leaves us rolling on the floor laughing with his comedic roles! The quintessential Bollywood dad, Anupam Kher can make us laugh, quiver with fear, wipe away tears and grit our teeth in anger.

We pray he never becomes a neta and just sticks to acting. The day he becomes a politician will be a sad day for Bollywood, indeed.
